I had the pleasure to meet my friend Tommie Battle AKA BoneyStarks in 2004 during his brief visit to Orlando. Even back then, I knew this dude was going to be doin’ big things.

Somewhat of a NT legend, Tommie (or MyTSharp to the community) is now shooting photos for amazing concerts (and other amazing events), tweeting until he can’t tweet no more (Seriously, he’s hilarious, follow him – Thank Me Later).

On top of the photography, The Black Hey Zeus (another one of his many aliases) has a knack for putting together some great 60-90 minute Hip-Hop/R&B online podcasts that are definitely worth checking out. His latest is a tribute to the mighty MF Doom (You can download it: Here)that will be getting lots of burn on the iPod and in the car.

It’s an honor to have met Tommie and to have remained friends (whether if only through the powers of the Internet) is an amazing tell of the modern ways of technology. His work is inspiring and his grind is completely motivating.

Soulstice is a local hip hop group that emanates soul, flavor and youth. When I first heard their single ‘Hangover’ it reminded me of MF Doom meets Little Brother, entertaining and captivating. These four 18 year old guys are getting a good head start at their musical career with their genuine and complex aura, lyrics and production. With the right team & marketing I can definitley see Soulstice having a dedicated and niche fan base starting in Orlando. Download their single ‘Hangover’, ‘Take Over’ and their mixtape Against The Grain below.

“Although there’s pain in my chest, I still wish you the best….with a Fuck You!”

Cee-Lo drops the official video for one of this years best songs. They did a great job with the video and the casting of the younger versions of Cee-Lo. Were definitely anticipating some more new work from one of the most original artists of our time.

Five talented DJs out of Central Florida; Skream, PointBlanc, GhostRider, Grinz and Brizzy put together compilation of music to chill, drive and/or party to. Nice to see some synergy among the Orlando DJs, definitely a progressive idea and it was profoundly executed for the masses. Skream adds a nice touch with a tribute to Guru. Keep it up!

Thursday September 16 Public Enemy is coming to Orlando to perform at Firestone Live! They’re performing with a live band and Flavor Flav will be in the builidng! I’ve never seen them live before, should be a good time!

Finally! Big Sean releases Volume 3 of his Finally Famous mixtapes. He is the next big thing in hip hop. If you have been sleeping on Big Sean well now’s the time add this mixtape to your iPod and have some fun. Let me know what you think!
